20th Anniversary Sugar Land Cultural Arts Foundation Platinum Jubilee

19 Jan 2019

The Sugar Land Cultural Arts Foundation (SLCAF) and Momentum BMW are pleased to invite you to join us for the 20th Anniversary Sugar Land Cultural Arts Foundation Platinum Jubilee scheduled for Saturday, January 19, 2019, 6pm at the Safari Texas Ballroom in Richmond.

This year’s event – Platinum Jubilee – celebrates the 20th anniversary of the SLCAF’s annual signature event – a must attend for the Fort Bend County social calendar – and this special anniversary event promises to be bigger and better than ever! Ann Smith will be honored for her 20-year commitment to supporting the SLCAF, and the entertainment will be stellar! The company from The Music Box Theatre, touted as The Best Cabaret Theatre in Houston by the Houston Press, will bring their ensemble cast of live musicians and actors to present an original show highlighting some of Fort Bend’s own cast of characters.

Over the past twenty years, the Sugar Land Cultural Arts Foundation has raised over $1.7 million to restore the historic Sugar Land Auditorium. In 2014, the SLCAF expanded its mission to include arts production, education and outreach. In doing so, the Foundation has raised the bar in quality arts programming in Fort Bend County by partnering with Inspiration Stage to produce numerous full production musicals. Further, the SLCAF’s Sugar Land Auditorium has hosted more than a dozen multi-cultural dance and music performances, twelve episodes of Southern India’s version of American Idol, four Chautauqua Talks, summer theatre camps for kids and a chamber concert by the renowned forty-piece River Oaks Chamber Orchestra. This year, we look forward to hosting performances of Alice in Wonderland JR., Chitty Chitty Bang Bang JR. and many more entertaining events at the Sugar Land Auditorium.

This year also marked the SLCAF partnership with the City of Sugar Land Cultural Arts Division’s Traffic Box Public Art Project. Thirteen traffic boxes located along Highway 90 have been transformed into works of art from regionally-based artists. And best of all, we celebrate the centennial of the Sugar Land Auditorium in 2018 – the 100th anniversary of the last remaining public building from the original company-owned town of Sugar Land.

The Platinum Jubilee event will sell out, so don’t delay Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Cathy Stubbs or Patti Parish-Kaminski.
